§ 2Summary

§2L2.2 (fraudulently acquiring documents relating to naturalization or citizenship) was the primary guideline in 5,142 cases sentenced across 8 fiscal years (FY2018–FY2025), 1% of all cases, with 529 in FY2025. The Commission classes most of them as immigration.

The median prison term under §2L2.2 was 4 months (all cases nationally: 24 months); 87% of cases carried a prison term.
